This Doctor on Call question is from a mother of two who is very worried about H1N1. 

She writes: “Every day, I hear about a new five-year-old who had died from complications of the swine flu.  As a mother of a five- and three-year-old, it's nerve-wracking and no one seems to know when the vaccine is going to be available.”

It sounds like you've been frightened by media reports about some children who've become very ill with H1N1. 

While there have been some serious cases and even some deaths, pediatricians tell us the majority of children feel sick for a few days and completely recover. 

In Onondaga County, the health department says since September, hundreds of kids have had the swine flu, and 10 have been hospitalized locally with the virus.

As for the vaccine, some doctor’s offices have it, others have ordered it, but there's no question it's behind schedule.
